FoF: Imperial Porter and Family Pork

Welcome to yet another episode of Food on Fridays (FoF) at Burning Brothers. This Boxing Day edition showcases the triumphant return of Tollefson Family Pork Farm who offer all-natural meat products exclusively through Twin Cities farmers markets as well as their food truck and chef’s table. Tonight, Tollefson’s tantalizing yet titillating menu of tremendous temptation includes:

  • Housemade salsa with chips
  • Potato hash with garlic n’ veg
  • Wrap Du Jur with smoked bacon, smoked sausage or sauteed veggie

Meanwhile, our brewer’s choice for the taproom is our Imperial Porter. Made with dark roasted grains, this beer offers a substantial malt flavor combined with balanced hop profile. Note the rich caramel taste followed by hints of peat. IBU: 56 ~ ABV: 10%

FoF: Keeping it ‘Mild’ with Moondog

2014-11-14 18.15.12It’s the end of the week, which means it’s time for another edition of Food on Friday (FoF) in the Burning Brothers taproom. Tonight, Moondog Fancy Meats is back to tempt you with their German style bratwursts and hot dogs (gluten-free of course) piled high with all your favorite toppings.

On the beer side, we have a new pilot batch/brewer’s choice offering with our Burning Brothers Mild. Subtle, crisp bitterness on the front finishes with a touch of biscuit and nuts on the back. This session style comes in at a low 3.0% ABV and is intended to be a lightly-flavored, easy to drink and malt-accented beer.

This weekend’s tap selection:

  • Pyro American Pale Ale
  • Roasted Coffee Ale
  • Fused Cranberry
  • Fused Orange Blossom Honey
  • Burning Brothers Mild (Brewer’s Choice)

Cheers!

Newsletter: One year of beer, who’d a thunk…

“There is no need to sharpen my pencils any more, my pencils are sharp enough. Even the dull ones will leave a mark.” -Ze Frank “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” – Robert Frost
One year ago today we stood on our new brewing platform more racked with nerves than excitement. “How the hell did we get here?” was unspoken but not forgotten. It was 20 hours from start to finish for that first brew, a mere 200 gallons of beer. We had much to learn.

Today, we brew nearly 500 gallons in half that time, we employ 5 people full-time and we sell beer in 4 states (6 by year-end). “How the hell did we get here?” is still unspoken but not forgotten.

In these past 12 months, we have learned to check our egos at the door and instead, focus on quality and pride. We are proud of our past mistakes and that we can continue to learn from them. We are proud of our familys and the sacrifices they have made and the sacrifices they are willing to make. We our proud to support the community that has supported us and for their ideas, friendship and never-ending thirst. We are a proud Minnesota brewery. We are proud to be gluten-free.

Pride may be a sin, so if it is, let us be sinful.

Thank you all.

365 Days…
1,000 pounds of hops…
30,000 gallons of beer…
100,000 cans…These are just a few of the numbers this year has brought. A ways, a means to try to put a shape or definition to what has been indescribable journey. Happiness, pain, joy, frustration, discovery, humility. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions that really is hard to put into words.

Yet here we are at this milestone and ultimately I have to agree with Dane… I am proud for what we’ve done and what we continue to do. It hasn’t always been easy and I know there is more to come, but I’m glad we’ve walked this path.

It might be trite (OK, it IS trite!), but we couldn’t have done it without all of you.

Thank you.
-Thom
